We are thrilled to celebrate the success of our 8th Annual Salmon in the Classroom Chinook Salmon Release. Our incredible students have spent months caring for these fish, nurturing them from tiny eyed eggs to strong, healthy fry. Seeing their dedication and excitement come to life made this experience truly joyful. Thank you to Mr. Gallagher and Mrs. Ganus for their leadership and guidance throughout the entire process.
Surrounded by the beauty of the woods behind RVSD, our students enjoyed a special journey to the Galien River, where they carefully released each salmon into its new home. Every step along the trail and every moment at the water helped build a deeper appreciation for nature and a lasting connection to the environment.
Here is the most amazing part. These small fish, just a few inches long today, will imprint on the Galien River. In about 1.5 to 3.5 years, they will make an incredible journey back to this very river to spawn, growing to over 20 pounds as they travel through Lake Michigan.
We are so grateful for our passionate staff and for Watch D.O.G.S. volunteer Mr. Tim, who helped make this experience so meaningful and memorable. Your support inspires our students and helps grow the next generation of environmental stewards.
