Dr. Jean Kelso Sandlin presented Audience Characteristics & Perceptions of Public Figures’ YouTube Apologies at the International Public Relations Research Conference Held in Orlando, Florida March 7-10th. The paper was co-written by Dr. Monica Gracyalny, and their research was supported by CLU’s Culver Mentor and Research Fellows program that enables undergraduate students to participate in faculty research projects.
CLU communication students Claire Thompson and Rachel Salvati are currently Culver Fellows for the project. Dr. Sandlin’s attendance at the conference was supported by a Hewlett Foundation grant.

Our visit to Amazon Studios was a huge success! A huge thanks to our host Zach (CLU '09) for giving us a tour of the grounds. Later on, we got to learn more about his job at Amazon Studios and saw examples of projects he's worked on.

Meet our officers! Today we are highlighting Krystal Rhaburn, Priscilla Romofsky, and Rachel Salvati.
Krystal spent her last semester studying abroad in Australia. Outside of Cal Lutheran, Krystal participates in pageants. She is passionate about volunteering with children and aspires to do public relations in the events and lifestyle industry.
Priscilla is from Woodland Hills, CA, and is studying communication with a minor in sports management. After graduation, she hopes to work in business operations and analytics for the NBA.
Rachel is a marketing communications major with a minor in political science. She loves working with nonprofits and hopes to return to San Diego, California, after college to pursue a career in nonprofit public relations. In the past, she has interned with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Ventura County and is a current Culver Research fellow.

Meet our officers! Today we will be highlighting Emily, Danny, Jessica, and Britta!
Emily is double majoring in English and Communications with a minor in Psychology. She currently works with James Storehouse as an event planning and social media intern and with Mayerson Marketing & Public Relations as a public relations intern. She's hoping to go further in the nonprofit field, and after graduation wants to move back to Seattle.
Danny is from Simi Valley, California, and is studying Marketing Communications with a Business Admin minor. He is a huge Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan and hopes to one day work for an NFL or MLB team.
Jessica is a junior at Cal Lutheran. She grew up in Southern Mississippi but is a California girl at heart. She’s fun loving, dog obsessed, adventurous, and very passionate. She is super excited for her journey with Cal lu Lutheran and the PRSSA Board!
Britta was born and raised in Colorado, but moved to California 5 years ago. She is passionate about the entertainment industry, which is what originally brought her out to California. She hopes to work in PR for a studio or production company one day.

Two Cal Lutheran Communications professors, Dr. Jean Sandlin and Dr. Monica Gracyalny, recently had their latest research published in the Public Relations Review. They were also featured in the Institute for Public Relations' Digital Media Research Center.
Current PRSSA PR Director Rachel Salvati is assisting with the fifth phase of their research, which is looking at how Youtube comments affect viewers' attitudes towards the content.
