This week, our kindergarteners stepped into the role of scientists during a Science Walk as part of their unit, “Needs of Plants and Animals.” They learned that scientists use their senses to observe, investigate, and record what they discover.

Armed with their tally sheets, our young scientists explored campus using all their senses except taste! They spotted lizards, a hummingbird, rocks, trees, mountains, plants, and leaves. They smelled flowers, felt the wind, and listened for birds and other sounds around them.

As they explored, they carefully recorded their observations and used tally marks to count the living things, plants, and non-living things they discovered.

What a wonderful way to turn our campus into a science laboratory!

This week, our first graders took a wonderful trip to the Thousand Oaks Library! They enjoyed a special tour through different sections of the library, discovering picture books, early readers, books in different languages, biographies, and so much more.

Our tour guide then treated the students to a fun story time featuring three books, along with songs that had everyone laughing and singing along! 🎶📖

To wrap up their visit, our first graders created their own colorful fish bowls for a special craft. And, of course, no trip to the library would be complete without a visit to the big aquarium, where they got to see the resident eel and even a puffer fish! 🐡🐟

A huge thank you to the wonderful staff at the Thousand Oaks Library for welcoming our students and making their visit so engaging, educational, and fun. We are so grateful for all you do to foster a love of reading and learning in our community! 💚

Monday morning marked a special milestone at St. Patrick’s as we officially welcomed our first-ever Student Ambassadors!

Selected for their leadership, kindness, responsibility, and school pride, these middle school students will welcome prospective families, assist with campus tours, participate in admissions and community events, and lead by example.
We are so proud of these Saints as they begin a new tradition at St. Patrick’s. Congratulations to our inaugural Student Ambassadors!

KR artists had a colorful time in art class last week! 🌈 They learned about primary colors and discovered how blending them together creates secondary colors. Then, they put their new color-mixing skills to work painting their very own rainbows!

This morning, we were honored to welcome Rabbi Michael Lotker, Scholar in Residence at Temple Adat Elohim in Thousand Oaks, for a special visit with our students. Rabbi Lotker shared the significance of the upcoming Jewish High Holidays, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, and reminded us of the importance of reflecting on our actions and asking forgiveness from those we may have hurt.

Our students also had the opportunity to hear the beautiful sound of the shofar, a ram’s horn that is traditionally blown during Rosh Hashanah as a call to reflection, renewal, and turning toward what is right.

Thank you, Rabbi Lotker, for sharing your wisdom, traditions, and time with our Saints! 💚

At St. Patrick’s, we are proud to welcome leaders from all faith backgrounds to speak with our students, who themselves come from many different faith traditions. These meaningful opportunities help us learn from one another, build understanding, and celebrate the richness of our community. 💚

Today, our 6th graders got hands-on with density in Mrs. Frank’s Science class! 🧪💚 They created colorful density towers using water with different amounts of salt, then carefully layered their solutions in long beakers to see density in action. The students observed that the solutions with the higher salt content were more dense and sank to the bottom, while the less dense solutions floated above. A colorful experiment that made a big science concept easy to see! 🌈🔬

Music class got moving last week! 🎶 Our 4th graders played a musical game of hopscotch with Mrs. E, practicing the timing and value of quarter notes, half notes, whole notes, and more. Each hop matched the rhythm of the note beneath their feet! 🎵💚
