Running Insight:

Coach Greg has his athlete Boo practicing the progression into a
B-Skip drill using the Running Pods.

Boo is practicing staying in place when performing her B-Skip. A lot of times athletes cast their foot to far out in a B-Skip which can be contradictory to their running mechanics.

The key is to practice your drills the way you want to run, as a drill can directly impact your running form.

Incorporating weights into your regular exercise routine has been proven to increase your speed and improve Vo2.

How?

Muscles don't need to expend as much energy to hit a certain pace, according to Kenji Doma, Ph.D., a sports and exercise scientist at James Cook University in Queensland, Australia. β€œYour brain alters its neural recruitment pattern, calling up the most fatigue-resistant muscle fibers so you exert less energy.”

Strength training also improves neuromuscular coordination and power; and improves running economy by encouraging coordination and stride efficiency.
