We all want our homes to smell nice and clean; however, as pet owners, we have to be extra careful that whatever we are using isn’t harmful to our fur babies. Incense is dangerous to cats as their sense of smell is 14 times stronger than that of humans and the smell can be too intense for them to handle. It also produces smoke, which can be bad for their respiratory system and increase the risk of your cat developing asthma. Opt for cat-friendly methods of keeping your house smelling fresh and clean by dusting frequently, using baking soda to absorb odors, having fragrant plants such as rosemary or sage, or simmering a pot of water with cinnamon sticks, apples, or vanilla. Stay current with your cats' healthcare needs and schedule their appointment by calling (805) 498-3684.

To prevent your pup from contracting parvo, it is essential to get them vaccinated. A puppy’s first set of vaccinations happen at 6 weeks old with another two at 9 and 12 weeks. When your dog is brought into our clinic, they will be assessed by us and we will advise you on all follow-up dates. Always look for clinical signs of parvo in your dog, and if you notice symptoms, contact us at (805) 498-3684 to book an appointment for diagnosis. Don’t leave it until its too late!

Diabetes is a disease caused by a lack of insulin, the hormone that regulates how sugar is absorbed and used by the cells within the body. It is most often seen in dogs between the ages of 5 and 7, with female dogs being more susceptible than males. Every dog is unique, but keeping an eye out for irregularities in your dog’s behavior is key to determining if your dog may be at risk. Watch out for extreme thirst, frequent urination, notable exhaustion, and lower than normal activity, and obesity. If you have noticed any of these signs in your pup, call us at (805) 498-3684 right away to schedule a thorough examination so we can help you maintain and improve your dog’s health!

💧 Is your dog drinking enough water? A good rule of thumb: about 1 oz per pound of body weight daily. But things like heat, activity, and diet can change that! Noticing big changes in thirst? That can be a sign something’s up. Let’s check it out: (805) 498-3684

Cats typically need about 3.5–4.5 oz per 5 lbs of body weight daily but many don’t drink enough on their own. Water fountains, wet food, and multiple bowls can help!

If you notice changes in drinking habits, don’t ignore it. Call us: (805) 498-3684.

A dog’s reaction to guests can tell us a lot about their comfort level and behavior. Reactions like barking, hiding, or guarding can be linked to anxiety, lack of socialization, or protective instincts. Understanding those signals can help prevent stress and create safer interactions for everyone.
