!! PRO EVENT ALERT !! Malachi Bennett ( and Ryley Humrighouse ( )will compete in an undercard match of REPS AHEAD® in Jacksonville Florida at CrossFit Tailwinds () on 3/30 ahead of the main event between two well known Games competitors. These two particular athletes are very familiar with each other and there is a score to settle with Malachi’s narrow victory over Ryley in the 2022 MBS Turkey Challenge (). Their match will consist of (7) 2 minute rounds (1 minute rest between) where they will attempt to get 40 REPS AHEAD of each other in the following sequence of movements:

36 Double Unders
6 Hang squat cleans
6 Bar Muscle ups

Be sure to stay tuned for our full event announcement with details about the Games participants in the main card this Saturday (2/10) at 8AM MST!

Get ready to tackle the Open & Quarterfinals with our new cycle!! 💪🏼 You can expect to see a strength component focusing on the Back Squat, Bench Press, Strict Press & Deadlift. You will also build capacity in higher skill movements and slightly longer metcons that mimic those seen in past years of the Open. Additionally, there will be an added focus on necessary gymnastics such as Chest to Bar Pull-ups, Handstand Push-ups, Handstand Walks, Toe to Bar, and both Ring and Bar Muscle-Ups.

We are so excited to be starting a new year of training with each and every one of you!! Let’s do hard things!! 🔥

January’s Monthly Challenge is 1 Minute Max Wall Walks!!
One winner will be awarded a prize at the end of the month.

As The Open approaches, this is a great opportunity to focus on wall walk efficiency and movement standards. There will be regulation tape lines on the floor for both men & women.

Below are the standards for your wall walks:
•For women, the distance from the wall will be 55 in.
•For men, the distance from the wall will be 60 in.
•There will be a second tape line 10 in from the wall. Both hands must touch the tape at the top of the rep.
•The rep must start and end with the athletes chest on the ground.
•Both hands must remain on the tape line until both feet are on the wall. On the decent, feet must stay on the wall until both hands touch the tape.

Test Week!! We are now into the final two weeks of our current cycle. We will start a new cycle after the new years. This means, it’s test week and we have a few re-tests from early on in our cycle along with a few specific rep maxes that were focused on building over the course of this cycle. This should be a fun week with a lot of energy and enthusiasm.
Some key points are our 1RM Overhead Squat max on Monday, 3RM Push Press Tuesday, 10RM Deadlift Wednesday, and 3RM Front Squat Friday. Our retest workouts will be “Jason” on Monday, “Big Blanket ‘’ on Thursday, and “Freddy Krueger ‘’ on Friday. We also have our “12 Days of Christmas” workout Saturday, which everyone should be at.
Eat, sleep, go to mobility this week, and make sure you log all your scores in Sugarwod!
