🐸 Frogs, Fun & Science! 🧪

Mrs. Hengst’s 7th grade science students hopped into hands-on learning yesterday as they dissected frogs! From curiosity to a few “eww” moments, it was a day full of discovery and real science in action.

🎶🐾 MS Band Update 🐾🎶

For the first time in school history, the Thorndale Middle School Band earned straight 1s at UIL! Out of 16 bands, only 6 received a First Division in both stage performance and sightreading on Tuesday.

We are so proud of these students and their hard work!

Last week and this week 6th graders used crayons to make a model of the rock cycle. Their favorite part of the lab was today when they were allowed to fully melt the crayons using heat from their own lit candle. Our 6th graders are responsible and trustworthy!

✨ College & Career Connections in Action! ✨
Earlier this week, a group of our 7th graders had the opportunity to visit Texas A&M and Blinn College during campus tours focused on future pathways and possibilities.

A huge shoutout to FCCLA seniors Kenedi Moore and Jayden Gonzales, who organized this experience as part of their Career Connections FCCLA project. Way to lead, plan, and inspire the next generation! 👏🎓

Mrs. Hengst's 7th graders made a model to show how available energy decreases in successive trophic levels in energy pyramids. No one stained their clothes with food coloring today, so we are calling this a win!

The 6th graders in Mrs. Hengst's science class analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of using a hard boiled egg to model the compositional layers of the Earth. With the help of a sprinkle of salt and pepper, as well as a swirl of mustard, it was a yummy day in the science lab!
