Our students watched a Pumpkin Chunkin’ contest, learned how catapults were used in the past, and then put their STEM skills to work! They explored the science behind catapults and discovered how a simple machine can launch a pumpkin through the air!🎃

In honor of the NBA conference finals, my students created a basketball catapult! 🏀⛹️‍♂️⛹️‍♀️Using the engineering design process, students worked collaboratively to design and build a catapult capable of launching a ping pong ball into a hoop. Throughout the activity, students explored important science concepts and vocabulary including gravity, potential energy, and kinetic energy. This hands-on STEM challenge encouraged creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking while connecting engineering and physics to the excitement of the basketball finals! 🖤💛🐾🏆🏀
