Week four at Alma and the roots are going deep. 🌳

This week we read Coat of Many Colors and talked about the things families give us that money cannot buy. We kicked off our cause and effect exploration with If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and every child started working on their My Roots Book.

Alma Fridays are coming in October!

Parents ask for it all the time: a day where homeschool kids get real social time with their peers. Alma Fridays gives them exactly that, built around collaborative games, group projects, and peer learning that make socialization part of the academic experience, not separate from it.

Students dig into project work and play learning-based games together all while continuing the work they've already started during the week.

We're opening a limited number of Friday spots to families outside our current program, just 5 available!

K-5, Fridays 9am–3pm. $80/day drop-in, or $260/month for weekly enrollment.

Last week at Alma Learning Lab, we went deeper into our theme of Roots; starting with our own names.

We read Alma and How She Got Her Name and My Name Is Yoon, and talked about what our names mean and who chose them. From there, we branched outward: building family trees and starting the first pages of our nature journals.

We also had science with Mr. Drake and continued Spanish with Señor Anthony!💙

Week one at Alma is in the books and it was everything.

Teaching Assistant — Part-Time Contractor
Alma Learning Lab| Thompsons Station, TN

Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Compensation based on experience

We're a fast-growing microschool with a Montessori-inspired, multi-age classroom serving Pre-K through 5th grade. With just 9–15 students, our days are full of small groups, hands-on materials, and curiosity leading the way. We're looking for a warm, energetic Teaching Assistant/guide to join our lead teacher two days a week.

What you'll do
Engage with students Pre-K through 5th grade throughout the school day
Follow and support lesson plans prepared by the lead teacher
Guide small-group and one-on-one work, meeting each child where they are
Support classroom routines, transitions, and hands-on learning materials

What we're looking for
Genuine warmth with young children, plus energy, patience, and a sense of humor
A belief that kids learn best by doing, building, and trying
Reliability, our students and team count on you being there
Coursework, experience, or strong interest in education, child development, or a related field
Experience with children in any setting (classroom, camp, tutoring, childcare, coaching) is a plus
Montessori familiarity welcome but not required, we'll teach you
Must pass a background check

Summer camp at Alma Learning Lab has been everything.

Friendship bracelets, water play, shaving cream, bubbles, the floor is lava, and a whole lot of imaginative play with the best crew around. These kids have shown up every single day ready to laugh, create, and be kids; and watching them build friendships this summer has been one of my favorite things.

This is what learning looks like at Alma. Joyful, messy, real, and full of connection.

Hey Williamson County families!

I am looking for a few passionate people to join us at Alma Learning Lab as enrichment teachers this fall. You do not need a teaching degree to apply. You just need something you love and a willingness to share it.

Here is how it works: once a month, you come to Alma between 1:00 and 2:00 PM on a Tuesday or Thursday of your choosing and teach our multi-age learners (PreK through 5th grade) something you are genuinely excited about. That is it. One hour a month.

We are looking for people who can share things like:
Art or drawing
Gardening or nature
Music
Cooking or nutrition
Yoga or movement.. or honestly, whatever lights you up

As a thank you, we offer a $60 tuition credit for each session you teach.

If you are an enrolled Alma family, this is a great way to get involved and offset your monthly tuition. If you are not yet enrolled but curious about Alma, come see what we are about from the inside.

From goat chores and water play to hands-on activities and fresh air every single day, our campers are in for an incredible summer of real, joyful learning.
