🚜 Harvest is here, and so is farm equipment on Iowa roads. This fall, slow down, watch for blind spots, and give combines, grain carts, and tillage equipment plenty of room to maneuver. We all share the road — let's keep it safe.

The Iowa 4-H Fishing Club officially kicks off tonight and there is still time to join!

The Iowa 4-H Statewide Fishing Club is designed to engage students in grades 4-12 with Iowa’s aquatic ecosystems, fishing techniques, and environmental stewardship. 🐟🎣

This unique program helps youth step into the great outdoors, where they can develop lifelong skills in fishing, fish identification, lure tying, water safety, and more. Through webinars and tournaments, members will build confidence and appreciation for nature while connecting with other young anglers across the state.

🍀 Enrolling in the Iowa 4-H Fishing Club is a two-step process:
1. 4-H Online Enrollment: Participants must first enroll as a 4-H member in 4-H Online (https://v2.4honline.com/) in the “Statewide Fishing Club.”

2. Event Registration: Once approved, participants must enroll in the event "Iowa 4-H Fishing Club."

Don't miss out on this fin-tastic opportunity to connect with fellow fishing enthusiasts across the state! For more details, visit ➡️ https://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/special-interest-groups

On Thursday, September 17, we were invited to participate in Winnebago Ag Safety Day, hosted by the Winnebago County Farm Bureau.

As part of the event, we had the opportunity to educate 160 fourth-grade students about the importance of properly storing household cleaning supplies and medications. Students learned why medications should always be kept in their original, properly labeled containers and stored safely out of reach of children.

We also engaged the students in an interactive game that demonstrated how difficult it can be to distinguish between candy and household products. The activity helped reinforce the importance of never assuming that an unfamiliar item is safe to eat and always checking with a trusted adult.

We enjoyed the opportunity to connect with local students and share important safety information that they can take home and share with their families.
