Justin has grown so much in our program and become a great leader. Keep an eye out for his work at TCMS and on the sidelines each Friday night!

Behind every great school broadcast is a team making it happen. Justin is gaining hands-on experience at Thomas County Middle School as a Teacher’s Assistant in the Broadcasting class, working alongside Mrs. Watson. Justin helps students, gathers and edits video, assists with classroom projects, and helps supervise the school news show. Building communication, technology, teamwork, and leadership skills through Work-Based Learning.

We also received a major compliment from the TV crew that was working last night. They said it was awesome to see what our students get to experience while in high school, that they had never seen anything like it!

Hard work pays off! 🎥🏈

Congratulations to Class of 2026 graduate Beth Hicks, who has been selected by the SEC Network to work as a camera operator at Mississippi State football games this season! Beth was a four year member of the TCCHS broadcasting department and worked on our sidelines on game days.

While it's common for incoming freshmen to have the opportunity to volunteer for a game or two, Beth was contacted before even leaving Georgia to complete her onboarding—a significant accomplishment that speaks volumes about her talent, work ethic, and preparation.

Moments like this are a direct reflection of the investment she made in our program.

We're proud of you, Beth, and can't wait to see where this opportunity takes you!

Round 3 of Industry Certification all wrapped up! There's a reason that our program is the best around!

Congratulations to instructors Kristy Faucett and Nicholas Cooper on achieving Industry Certification for their AVTF program at Thomas County Central High School.
Earning this distinction requires the program to demonstrate strong alignment with current industry standards, including the use of industry‑standard equipment and facilities; active business and industry partnerships; participation in a Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO); and preparation of students for industry‑recognized credentials.
Kudos to Kristy and Nicholas for their leadership and for delivering an outstanding program that serves both their students and the broader community.

So so proud of our Mya Cooney for doing amazing things out in the real world just like she did in our program!! Keep doing big things Mya!

💛💙 Jacket Pride Spotlight! 💙💛

We are so proud of Mya Cooney (pictured front left), TCCHS Alumni and former AVTF pathway completer & WBL student! Mya gained hands-on experience as a Broadcasting Assistant through Work-Based Learning while at TCCHS, and her hard work is paying off in a big way.

Last weekend, Mya won her first GABBY Award for Best Hard News Reporting with her news team at WTOC-TV, and it happened just 5 days after her 1st anniversary with the station.

WTOC brought home 4 Gabbys and 2 Merit Awards as a team, and we couldn’t be prouder of Mya’s accomplishments and her journey. From TCCHS classrooms to WBL experiences, and now an award-winning journalist.

Way to go, Mya! Keep working hard!
