Opportunity scholarship applications open up for the 2026 - 2027 school year on February 2nd. It is important to apply or reapply as soon as possible, as the allotted funds go quickly. All families in N.C. now qualify for these scholarships, regardless of income. However, the amount of your award is dependent on your income. If your child has an IEP they also qualify for the ESA+ scholarship. This scholarship is not income based, the only requirement is the IEP (Individual Education Plan). Apply for the scholarship, even if you have not decided on a private school yet. We would love to meet you and talk with you about the benefits New Hope Christian Academy has to offer.

Thank you for this Joe. We love you❤️

Thank you for this Joe. We love you❤️

To some it's a name. To some it's just somebody drawing on a motorcycle. To me that's the point of this motorcycle. to me this isn't just a name on a project. This is the sign of a fighter standing up and fighting for his life and his family. To those of you who don't understand what this fight is like I pray you never do. Pray for him and his family

Thank you Mike for being the first fighter to sign

To everything there is a season…
New Hope has been one of the biggest parts of my life for the last 27 years. I stand amazed at all that God has done. I have been praying for the last few years about a way for New Hope to continue when it is time for me to let go. Today, God has answered my prayer. The pastor at Greenwood Baptist Church and I have been in discussions for weeks about the possibility of the church buying the school. Today the church voted and it passed. They have a beautiful facility already and are building a beautiful new building that will include a gymnasium. They also have a fenced playground with new equipment. Debra, Kris and I will be teaching but someone else will now handle all the administration of the school. They are retaining the name of New Hope and already have several new students applying.

We have been busy packing (a huge effort) and as I have gone through everything I have looked at thousands of pictures that brought back so many memories. I have laughed and I have cried. This is definitely emotional and bittersweet for me but I know that this is of God and I’m excited about the possibilities for the future. As Mike is continuing to battle stage 4 cancer, it is important to me to be able to devote more time to him and have less responsibilities. I love teaching and plan to continue for as long as possible, but now I can just do what I love.

Greenwood is planning an Open House, probably in late June. I would love it if you all could come but even more, I would love for all who can to stop by the school and see me in the current building. I will be on vacation June 7 - 21 but plan to work full days the last week of June. It would be an honor to get to see each of you as I begin this new season of my life.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11

I love you always,
Patsy

Going home after 15 days!!!

10/12/2023

God is answering all our prayers!! Doctors just came in. After a second blood transfusion yesterday, they are monitoring hemoglobin levels a while longer but if they are still stable this afternoon, we will go home either this evening or tomorrow! Thank you all again for all the prayers, and concern. We are humbled and very grateful .

Thank you all for your prayers. Current update: diagnosis of sepsis from a bacteria that somehow crossed from the bowel to the urinary tract. They are trying to find the best antibiotic that this particular bacteria will not be resistant to . His fever is staying down longer and the heart is beginning to slow back down to a more normal rate. His hemoglobin, however, has dropped so low that they are going to do a transfusion, hopefully that will help him start feeling even better. The team of doctors is being very thorough and we are waiting now for the orthopedic surgeon to come and see if he is bleeding around the site of the surgery. That is where we stand right now.
I would like to thank my incredible school family for bearing with me as I am staying at the hospital round the clock. They are giving great care here but it always helps to have a family member staying who can help with all the little things so that they are not constantly being called to the room. Also it would be incredibly difficult to do my best at the school because my mind and heart are here.

To everyone I’ve missed saying Happy birthday to, I’m so sorry! I’ve been taking some time away from Facebook, which is usually my reminder of special days. I have an update on our life. Mike has been completely off of chemo since February. He is scanned every three months and if something shows up, he will begin it again. However, since his radiation has weakened the bones, he fell on Wednesday while home alone and broke his femur up near the hip. He also has a tear in the tendon in the gluteus minimus and another in the hamstring. He had surgery yesterday where the pit in a rod in the Demi from the hip to just above the knee. He has been in great pain but it is now better and he walked some today. He will begin a long recovery process with physical therapy. This happened one week after he had to have a kidney stone surgically removed! I had to put my mom into a skilled nursing facility since my dear aunt passed away last month. She has been there a week and I go almost every day to check on her but she is doing very well, much better than we had anticipated. We have had a very rough start to the school year with a COVID outbreak and two staff members with other health issues but it’s going to get better! I have a wonderful staff, great students and very supportive, understanding parents. I blessed and grateful to have everything God has blessed me with and my children and grandchildren are healthy and are helping out so much. Sorry for the long post but that has been our life!!
