Davidson County Schools Families,
The safety of our students, staff, and visitors remains a top priority for Davidson County Schools. As part of our continued commitment to providing safe environments for our school communities, we are expanding the use of the OpenGate weapons detection system for the 2026–27 school year. Beginning with the first regularly scheduled home football game on Friday, August 21, OpenGate will be used to screen individuals entering our football stadiums. New this school year, the OpenGate system will be utilized at all home football and basketball events across our secondary schools.
To help make the entry process as smooth as possible, we ask that all spectators leave prohibited items and unnecessary metal items at home whenever possible. Individuals may be asked to remove certain items for screening, and staff will be available to assist and provide directions throughout the process. We encourage families to arrive early, particularly during the first few events, as we become accustomed to the screening process. Additional information about OpenGate, including a video demonstrating how the system works and what visitors can expect when entering our facilities, are available on your school’s website and social media channels.
As a reminder, Davidson County Schools' Clear Bag Procedure for athletic events remains in effect. The procedure requires spectators to follow the established guidelines for bags brought into athletic facilities. Families are encouraged to review the Clear Bag Procedure on our district website before attending events to help ensure a smooth and efficient entry process.
