Dez enlisted in the Army on October 31, 2019. He served as an infantryman in the 278th Infantry Regiment. Dez chose to attend Thomas University to play football. His talent was recognized by other college football programs, but the opportunity to play football with veterans helped shape his decision. The benefit to playing football helps vets combat PTSD and gives them a family of people who have shared in the military lifestyle. Dez plans to take business classes to help him improve his real estate and insurance business. Dez has the utmost faith in the football staff and believes a military veteran football team has a mental toughness above any college football team in America. Thank You for Your Service Dez

Veterans Returning to College Face Unique Challenges With wars in Iraq and Afghanistan winding down and enhancements to the GI Bill, colleges and universities are expecting a surge in veteran enrollment unseen since World War II.

Veteran Student Spotlight:

Matthew Bowman

Matthew enlisted into the United States Marine Corps right out of high school. He served the Marines as an Amphibious Assault Vehicle Repairman. Assigned to 4th Marine regiment, 3rd Marine Division on Okinawa, Japan.

Matthew chose to attend Thomas University for the opportunity to play college football with other Veterans like himself. Matthew is pursuing a degree to become a licensed Physical Therapist.

Matthew believes the Thomas University Football Program, made specifically for Veterans, will help many vets transition into civilian life with a path toward success. Having a team and brotherhood similar to what the military offered and a mission to win football games. He knows the mentality veterans have will be an edge over their opponents.
