I assume it is okay to announce this now, but if not, oh well. I was informed by Tommy Bryant that I have been voted into the Thomasville High School Athletic Hall of Fame and will be inducted into it next March. I loved basketball and played 4 years on varsity and received a lot of awards my junior and senior years. I guess if I was able, I would still be out on the court. I was a guard and back in those days, guards never got the attention that the forwards did because they did all the shooting. But I was the one that got that ball to them. lol. So it was unusual for a guard to receive the honors that I got. And a lot of that was because of Bennie Phillips, the Thomasville Times sports writer. Bennie took a liking to me and usually put an article in the paper about every week or so about me. So I thank him for all that he did. If they use my picture for the award, I hope they use this one showing that at one time I actually could jump up. I'd be lucky to jump an inch now. lol. I'm very honored to be inducted into the THS HOF alongside all the other athletes who poured their hearts and souls into playing and being the best at their sport. Looking forward to next March.

It's with a very heavy heart that I let our classmates know that Linda Jones Allred, our vivacious, vibrant outgoing cheerleader with that wonderful peppy attitude, passed away yesterday. Her son let me know yesterday but I do not know of any details yet as to funeral, etc. but will pass them along as I receive them. Linda had had dementia for several years with declining health. I always knew to block out one hour and a half when I knew I was going to be talking to you on the phone. It was always such a wonderful conversation. While her short term memory was fading, her long term was just fine. Prayers and condolences to her son Bill, her daughter Cathy, and their families.
