No-Cost, 8 POST CE, Use of Force Workshop on June 15
Through the Minnesota Office of Higher Education’s Use of Force Training Grant, we are proud to announce no-cost, POST approved training for Minnesota law enforcement.
This Use of Force training will include hands-on, scenario-based exercises that focus on strengthening decision-making, effective communication, and the lawful application of force in both routine and high-risk encounters. Emphasis is also placed on de-escalation strategies, officer safety, and sound judgment in rapidly evolving situations.
The first workshop will be held on June 15, 2026, at the Northland campus in Thief River Falls. Each one-day training is eligible for 8 POST CE credits. A second session will be offered on August 6, with additional trainings planned throughout the grant period, which extends through June 2027.
WDS is coordinating outreach, registration, and delivery of this program in partnership with Northland instructors David Lovly and Randy Sondrol. Agencies are encouraged to share this opportunity with eligible personnel and coordinate attendance.
Advance registration is required. Participants must be licensed Minnesota Peace Officers, currently employed with a Minnesota law enforcement agency. To see the full course description and register, use the course link below or contact Northland WDS at [email protected].
