Nicholls MACO faculty journalism instructor Chris Singleton and top overall Nicholls journalism graduate Shamarr Moses were invited to speak with news editors and publishers at the Louisiana Press Association media convention at the City Club in Baton Rouge today. We talked about Nicholls’ work and contributions through the Louisiana Community Journalism Initiative, where student journalists from state universities across Louisiana are collaborating together to help produce community news coverage for media organizations across south Louisiana.

On "May the 4th" we had our year end get together with the students. This party doubled as a "Thank You" to Dr. James Stewart for serving as the Department of Mass Communication's head for 🫢years. He is not retiring just yet, but will be stepping down as our leader at the end of this semester.

Nicholls professor named only U.S. faculty at Paris teaching program Nicholls State University professor Dr. Andrew Simoncelli recently taught students in Paris about how artificial intelligence is transforming the media landscape.

Thanks to NFL referees Carl Johnson and Jason Ledet for stopping by to talk with our student media organizations and classes about their careers and experiences today. Both referees are Thibodaux natives and Nicholls alumni who have served as game officials at Super Bowls.

The Nancy Sanderson Matherne Institute for Global Communications team presented at Newcastle University in the UK on the newest aspect of the Restoration Generation — Restoration Education aimed at educating primary and secondary students about Louisiana's land loss crisis.

We want to thank Covenant Christian Academy’s student media class for visiting our Nicholls MACO facilities today. They met with current faculty and students to learn about our programs, majors, Colonel Media Group organizations and more!
