Nicholls Alumni Scholarship Spotlight ♥️⚔️

Alyce Ledet has been awarded the Betty and Luke Ford Scholarship.

We asked Alyce to share a few words with the alumni and donors who made this scholarship possible, and she shared…

"I am incredibly grateful to the alumni and donors who made this scholarship possible. This scholarship is especially meaningful to me because Luke and Betty Ford were very special people in my life. They had a big impact on me and helped shape me into the person I am today. Being able to receive a scholarship in their name means a lot to me, and I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to continue my education while carrying a part of their legacy with me. Thank you for making this possible and for continuing to support students at Nicholls."

Nicholls Alumni Making Headlines⚔♥

Congratulations to Katie Scott (B.A.Ed. ’04), who was named Lisa Park Elementary’s Teacher of the Year and will also represent Terrebonne Parish as the 2027 Elementary Teacher of the Year!

A proud Nicholls graduate, Katie continues to make an impact in her community as a 6th grade math teacher. This year, she gave her students the opportunity to visit Nicholls, explore campus, and learn more about college and their future opportunities. Nicholls representatives also joined Lisa Park’s Career Day to help inspire students to start thinking about their goals and futures.

Congratulations, Katie, on this well-deserved achievement! We’re proud to see another Colonel making a difference in the lives of students and helping inspire the next generation of future Colonels!

Nicholls Alumni Making Headlines ♥️⚔️

Congratulations to Amanda Giordano (M.Ed. ‘10), who was named the Elementary Principal of the Year by the Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence! 🏆✨

After earning her bachelor's degree from ULL, Amanda came to Nicholls to earn her Master of Education in Educational Leadership in 2010. Over her incredible 25-year career in education, she has poured her heart into local classrooms and schools, serving as a dedicated teacher at Legion Park, Coteau-Bayou Blue, and Mulberry Elementary, an instructional coach at Dularge, an assistant principal at Acadian, and now, the proud principal of Bourg Elementary!

Congratulations, Mrs. Giordano! Thank you for leading with a passion for excellence and always putting students first; you are an outstanding example of a Nicholls Alumni.

Nicholls Alumni Making Headlines ♥️⚔️

Congratulations to Dr. Madge Gautreaux (B.S.Ed ‘98 & M.Ed. '07), who was named the High School Principal of the Year by the Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence! 🏆✨

After earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Nicholls, she received her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Administration from ULL, bringing a wealth of expertise and passion to local classrooms.

Dr. Gautreaux’s recognition comes at a deeply meaningful moment. At the beginning of the year, South Terrebonne High School reopened after years of recovering from the devastating damage caused by Hurricane Ida. This journey was defined by absolute perseverance and an unwavering belief that the school would one day feel like home again. Congratulations to Sally LeBlanc (B.S. '25), who has been selected as a Junior Associate for Volume 87 of the Louisiana Law Review! ⚖️📖

As the state's flagship legal journal since 1938, the Louisiana Law Review is a top legal journal entirely run by students at the LSU Law Center. The journal prints prestigious essays, articles, and student notes, focusing on both complex civil law and common law topics.

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Nicholls last year, Sally has hit the ground running in law school; making a premier law review as a first-year law student is a huge academic achievement that requires dedication, sharp analytical skills, and hard work.

Keep it up, Sally LeBlanc! We are proud of you!
