We had the honor of listening to one of our graduates at our annual Convocation this morning. Edgar touched on a lot of key points of being an alumni. As we approach September 1, we are continuing to build the LSCS Alumni Association with networking and giving back to the community in mind.
Read Edgar’s story:
Originally from Queretaro, Mexico, Edgar moved with his family to Houston’s Fourth Ward neighborhood in 1995, at the age of 7. Facing numerous challenges while adapting to a new life, Edgar found encouragement through regular conversations with his grandfather, whose optimism and determination inspired him to develop a strong entrepreneurial mindset and work ethic.
That entrepreneurial spirit led Edgar to launch AE Construction Services, a painting company built from the ground up. In the company’s early days, they accepted small painting projects while working to establish their reputation. Edgar’s determination quickly set him apart. At just 18 years old and still a high school senior, he registered his DBA at the local public library, arrived at his first commercial interview with a 20-person crew, and secured a contract for a local town center project.
Edgar enrolled at Lone Star College - North Harris after his high school graduation, where he met Dr. Bennie Lambert, a mentor he credits with helping him remain focused on his education while balancing growing professional responsibilities. He later earned a degree from the University of Houston and continued expanding his entrepreneurial portfolio.
Over the years, Edgar invested in Instafuel, a Houston-based mobile fleet fueling company that was later acquired by Shell, and launched Electrip, a transportation company designed to serve business travelers.
Edgar Garcia ’10, graduate of LSC - North Harris with an Associate of Arts in Business.
