Welcome to the page of The Woodlands High School Orchestra! Please check this page for current events, photos, video and more. The Woodlands High School is one of six high schools in the Conroe Independent School District and is located just north of Houston in The Woodlands, TX.
Our orchestra program houses 5 string orchestras, an electric string ensemble, and various chamber ensembles all of which give various performances and compete throughout the year. The program of almost 200 string players is led by director Aaron Michaelson and assistant director Marissa Guarriello. This page will be updated regularly with information and reminders about events as well as hosting live streams of our meetings and concerts throughout the year! [02/01/21] Happy to report that we had a very successful weekend at UIL Region 9 Orchestra Solo and Ensemble Competition. All our students received a 1st or 2nd division rating (the two highest scores) and we qualified 10 events and 15 students to compete in Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition latter in the year. We are very proud of all our students who participated.

While this is not our preferred way of giving a concert, we are immensely proud to keep the music going during these difficult times. We are so excited to release our virtual Orchestra Rocks! Concert with Special Guest Mark Wood. The full concert isn't ready yet, but we are excited to give you all a sneak peek. Thank you so much to the Houston Symphony for working with our Chamber Orchestra over zoom today. It was an amazing clinic, we can't wait to have you work with us in person again, but this was a great alternative.

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of TWHS Orchestra, and 10 years of Mr. Michaelson as the Director. Ten years ago today TWHS Orchestra was giving a Tommy Tune Award winning performance in the school’s musical Singing in the Rain. Please enjoy this arrangement of the titular song from that show.
TWHS Chamber Orchestra is back with another round of Friday Performances. We would like to dedicate this song to all our fellow musicians, actors, and other artists that are struggling during these unprecedented times. There truly is no business like show business. This song also holds special meaning for us, as our last in person performance was in our school's rendition of Annie Get Your Gun back in January.
