The program of almost 200 string players is led by director Aaron Michaelson and assistant director Marissa Guarriello. This page will be updated regularly with information and reminders about events as well as hosting live streams of our meetings and concerts throughout the year! Operating as usual

We are so excited to release our virtual Orchestra Rocks! Concert with Special Guest Mark Wood. The full concert isn't ready yet, but we are excited to give you all a sneak peek. Please enjoy Muse's Supermassive Black Hole arranged by Mark Wood. The full concert will be released in January, so stay tuned for that.

Thank you so much to the Houston Symphony for working with our Chamber Orchestra over zoom today. It was an amazing clinic, we can't wait to have you work with us in person again, but this was a great alternative.

Halloween Dance Party

TWHS Chamber Orchestra wishes everyone a Spooktacular Halloween. We would like to thank our phantom percussion section for playing along with us on this piece. Please enjoy Halloween Dance Party by Michael Hopkins

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of TWHS Orchestra, and 10 years of Mr. Michaelson as the Director. Ten years ago today TWHS Orchestra was giving a Tommy Tune Award winning performance in the school’s musical Singing in the Rain. Please enjoy this arrangement of the titular song from that show.

TWHS Chamber Orchestra is back with another round of Friday Performances. We would like to dedicate this song to all our fellow musicians, actors, and other artists that are struggling during these unprecedented times. There truly is no business like show business. Please enjoy this arrangement of There’s No Business Like Show Business from the musical Annie Get Your Gun. This song also holds special meaning for us, as our last in person performance was in our school's rendition of Annie Get Your Gun back in January.

Excited to have the McCullough JH Orchestra taping their Fall Concert on our stage tonight. Look for the recording of the concert on McCullough Orchestra's Social Media and our website in about a week's time.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. Here is Concert Orchestra starting our 1st rehearsal of our 10th Annual Trans-Siberian Orchestra Tribute Concert. Covid-19 can't stop this show. Get pumped this year's show will be recorded and released via social media and YouTube the week of December 14th. Hope you will all tune in!

The Woodlands High School Produces 6 National Merit Semifinalists
Semifinalists qualified by ranking among the top 1 percent nationally on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
The Woodlands High School National Merit semifinalists this year are:
Will Juneau, Ella Arendes, Morgan McCoy, Rohan Mhetar, Marissa Ruiz, and Tristan Robinson - with The Woodlands HS Principal Ted Landry

During the second week of September, The Woodlands High School seniors were named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship program. Thirteen Highlanders are among the 16,000 semifinalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program, the National Merit Scholarship Corp. (NMSC) announced on Monday.

To qualify, the students – now seniors – took the Preliminary SAT last fall, when they were juniors. They are now eligible to become finalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition, which awards more than $30 million in financial aid for college studies.

A semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT scores that confirm the student's earlier performance on the qualifying test.
To advance to the finals, each semifinalist and his or her high school must submit a detailed scholarship application. They provide information about their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards.

No One is Alone

TWHS Chamber Orchestra would like to remind everyone that no one is alone during this difficult time, we are all in this together. Please enjoy our performance of No One is Alone from the musical Into the Woods. Music by Stephen Soundheim arranged by James Kazik.

With most of our concert events being online, we're looking to see if we have some family or friends who would be interested in helping with the video editing for our digital concerts. Please reach out to courtney.llamas @ gmail.com for more info.
