We are in need of front desk volunteers. If you are interested read the post below.
We are searching for volunteers to work the front desk. This is a critical volunteer role for the school and a great way to be involved. It is a wonderful way to get to know the teachers better and to see your child during the school day. The teachers are very appreciative when parents volunteer for this important role. If a parent is unable to fill the spot, then teachers must step in to work the front desk. Volunteers can bring their laptops, a book, or whatever else to pass the time.
We are looking for parents that can commit to a weekly spot at the front desk. Shifts are 8am-12pm or 12pm-3:30pm Monday-Friday.
If you are unable to commit to something regularly but can fill in when people are out, that is extremely helpful as well. All parents that would like to volunteer or attend field trips this school year will need to complete a background check! Please reach out to our volunteer coordinator to get a background check cleared: [email protected]

Only 150 participants are allowed in the pool and RSVP for this event will open Friday, June 23rd at 8am on CheddarUp. We ask that you register every family member that will be attending, swimming or not.
This is a free family event! Every student must have a parent in attendance and registered, parents will be held responsible for their child(rens) safety during the event.

Check out our Gifted and Talented Students Spring 2023 GT Project - "A City of the Future” and the awesome cities they built!
Students learned about overcrowding, reliance on fossil fuels, lack of clean water, congestion and pollution are just some of the issues that plague cities around the world. The GT teams worked collaboratively to design a city of the future that meets the needs and solves the problems of current and future cities.

Our Story- Growing A Legacy
Sam Houston State University Charter School is a TUITION FREE, open-enrollment, public charter school that began in 2017. SHSU Charter School is housed in various pre-existing childcare facilities in the Houston, Texas area with its headquarters located at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
SHSU Charter School serves several different age groups throughout our sites, ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade depending on the location. With each academic year, the charter school intends to add a grade level with the expectation of serving 120 kindergarten through fifth grade students at each site by 2021.
SHSU Charter School classrooms have a 20:1 student teacher ratio with master teachers who are experts in their profession. Students utilize innovative and research-based curriculum and state-of-the-art technology, with affiliation and access to the resources of the most respected College of Education in Texas.
