Coach Dana Lyons had a great day at Challenge Miami. He won his age group in the duathlon! Run 5K, bike 56 miles, run 13.1. It was at the racetrack in Homestead!

Open Water Swim tomorrow at Lake Conroe at 5:30pm.
Weather looks good for this Friday for an open water swim!! As usual, we would be swimming at Dan’s place on Lake Conroe. Our approximately 300-400 yard square course is in a protected cove, marked with buoy’s at the turns and two kayaks are on the water to insure your safety.
Dana would appreciate a quick text or email [email protected] stating if you plan to swim on Friday. If you have friends that may enjoy the OWS, feel free to invite them. Julio Morales completed last weekends Cowtown Marathon races! Yes, races as in plural!! Saturday morning (7am start) he completed the 10k in 47:34 (5th in age group), then at the 8:30am 5k he ran a 23:48 (5th in age group). Then on Sunday he completed the 50k (31 miles) in 5:07:43 (8th in age group).
He is taking a much needed rest this week!

Congratulations to all Finish Strong Racing athletes to raced at Sylvan Beach on Sunday. Picture is Sharon Morin and Mark Hanlon who shared the podium as top Grandmasters athletes in the Olympic distance race! In the Sprint tri, 65 year old Jack Alexander finished 8th overall! And Irina Shikounova finished 6th in her AG. Yves Puisieux placed 5th in his AG in the duathlon and Eddie Daniels did well in his first race in a long time. Dana Lyons placed 6th overall and won his AG in the duathlon.

Volunteers needed for Woodforest Bank Tri!
As you all know, we like to have all FSC athletes give back to the sport when they can. We have an opportunity to help out at the upcoming Woodforest Bank Sprint Tri (formally the CB&I Sprint tri). The race takes place on Saturday, May 11th but we also need help the day before the race. On a personal note, I have been responsible for the following positions for many years and always appreciate the enthusiastic help from all!
As in previous years, we are responsible for transition set up and bike check in the day before the race (Friday the 10th) and transition (3 different shifts to choose from), run course monitors and mount/dismount line monitors.

Communication is extremely important so that you know how race is progressing and to resolve any problems, make sure to have a cell phone with you.

The Oilman half iron distance triathlon will NOT be taking place this coming fall. The RD hopes that it will return in 2020.

We will be hosting a ride/run preview event for the Waco Ironman 70.3. This will be held on the Waco course.
Date: Saturday September 22nd
Time: 8:30 a.m. meetup and wheels up at 8:45 depart
Location: Bicycle World in Waco. Bicycle World will open at 8am just for us and you’ll be able to use the facilities and make any needed purchases (tubes, CO2, nutrition)

We will bike the course and there will be optional run on first loop of run course or bike the run loop.
Many will be riding up early that morning and driving back after.
