Teacher Spotlight of the Week

Name: Ms. Katie
Title: Lead Teacher – Bears (4s)
Years teaching at KOK: This is my first year.

Why do you teach at KOK? After moving here, my family needed a new preschool. We originally attended a different preschool, but I slowly kept hearing more and more neighbors talk about a place called Kids of the Kingdom. Every neighbor who spoke of KOK had nothing but loving and positive things to say. A few months into the school year I decided to go on a tour of KOK. I was immediately struck by its warmth and sense of community. The welcoming and nurturing environment was easily seen, and I knew that this was a place not only where I wanted my children to attend but also where I wanted to teach.

What makes you and your teaching partner a team? We complement each other nicely. We balance each other’s strengths and weaknesses and work together to accomplish a common goal.

What do you want most for the kids you teach? I want my students to grow into loving and responsible members of society. I want them to treat others with respect, using Christ as their example. I want them to reason, think logically, and approach learning with confidence.

One fact most people don’t know about you: I married my high school sweetheart!

One thing about KOK you want others to know: KOK is a community, not just a school. The staff love and care about not only the students, but also about each other. It is a place where your child will feel safe, will grow, and will love to learn!

As well as letter knowledge, fine/gross motor skills and to develop cooperative play, social skills, and gain independence. Also very important, is for them to know that God is first, to have faith, to love, to have compassion, hope and humility.

One fact most people don’t know about you: I am terrified of flying and do not like being alone.

One thing about KOK you want others to know: At KOK we share the love of Jesus with age-appropriate Bible curriculum and lessons. We are all educated, attentive and caring teachers.
