I hope this post brightens your day. Just watched a great little Oscar winning documentary called The Last Repair Shop. It reminded me that technicians repaired trumpets and other instruments for me during my musical education. I was impressed that they were able to fix something so complicated and glad they got my trumpet working when I dropped it in the 7th grade. Please post your story of a time when someone fixed your instrument. Did you ever consider who was the tech behind the scenes? It made me proud to be a technician, albeit for another favorite obsession: coffee! Free to watch the doc at this link. In a warehouse in the heart of Los Angeles, a dwindling handful of devoted craftspeople maintain more than 80,000 student musical instruments, the largest remaining workshop in America of its kind.
