Based on the forecast for possible ice and snow tomorrow, The John Cooper School is canceling classes on Tuesday, January 16 and will re-open on Wednesday, January 17. The campus will be closed to all students and employees.

Caitlin played the role in 2012 in the JCS Upper School musical, and Mason will perform this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in The John Cooper School performance of Beauty and the Beast. She had the opportunity to connect with Caitlin Finnie '12, who played the same role her senior year at Cooper. Congrats to Caitlin Finnie ’12, who recently released her debut album, “So This is Love | C’est ça l'amour,” on October 5th. The album is French-inspired and romantic, mixing classical and musical theatre pieces. Caitlin performed in the World Tour of The Phantom of the Opera and the North American Tour of Les Miserables. The album is available to stream on all platforms. 🐉

Monday was the perfect day for golf! Thank you to all the alumni, alumni parents, faculty, and Cooper parents who played in, sponsored and volunteered at the 35th Annual JCS Golf Tournament. It was amazing to see so many alumni on the course and alumni businesses sponsoring the tournament! Thank you to the Pate Family Foundation for supporting the JCS Golf Tournament as the top sponsor since 2001. Thank you to Alumni Parents Heidi McKeever and Tracy Eckerson, Alumni Board member Leah MacDougal Jones ’98, and Golf Committee Members Amber Samuel and Paulraj Samuel ’97 for running the Chipping Contest at the tournament, which benefits The Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. Cooper’s Entrepreneurial Studies project-based course, led by Upper School faculty member, Matthew Wilson ’06, has had a long-standing tradition of alumni involvement. In this course, students work in teams on challenges throughout the semester. Today, students presented real-world solutions for alumni-owned, local restaurant Herb & Beet. The students analyzed the business and presented either management or marketing solutions for the local restaurant. Alumni guest speaker, Christopher McDonald ’19, joined the Investment Club meeting today to share his experience at The University of Texas at Austin, Canfield Business Honors Program, majoring in Finance with a minor in Management Information Systems. He presented on the different paths when majoring in Finance and tidbits about his internships with investment banking companies. The presentation ended with a Q & A session where seniors Charlie Pyle and Alan Kuvshinikov received some insightful advice about applying to universities. Congrats to Cooper Alumna, Caitlin Finnie ’12, who has started a new business venture after touring in Broadway tours, Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera. Caitlin is teaching voice lessons via Zoom to vocal students of all ages. Students can bring repertoire they’re interested in working on, and Caitlin can coach it with them and hone in on their vocal technique. Caitlin also offers virtual Q&A for anyone with questions regarding the musical theatre industry.
