Ladies! Let me jump on the scale for a second, then Again maybe let’s jump off the scale. Oh that scale. It’s that thing we always look at to show that we have made progress every week. It goes up it goes down and we feel like we are pulling our hair out trying to keep that number going down to our goal weight. You feel like it your enemy and friend all in a couple weeks.
Well let me tell you that i have been there. I have been on the weight loss yoyo train for years. And when i say years i mean 17 yrs. Through my journey i have struggled with those numbers on the scale and it has given me excitement in my weight loss and discouragement.
Almost a year and a half ago I ended up needing back surgery and of course gained weight. I was bound and determined to get my body into better shape and lose weight and just be over all healthier. Once again I jumped on the scale and tracked my weight every week and watched ut go down a little at a time and then go back up a little bit. I found myself asking myself “What am i doing wrong?” Well there were alot of factors that i dont really need to go into. Age, perimenopause, metablism slowing, eating healthier……
Well around july of last year i decided to start working out with my hubby and he pushed me to lift heavier (with in reason of still healing from back surgery) and change up what i was doing. I felt like things were working and i was getting slimmer but that number on the scale wasnt really moving. Well he purchased a scale that measured more than just weight loss.
And here is the point to my post. This scale is great because it can measure weight loss, muscle mass gain, fat loss % and more. And after about 2 months of really putting in some hard work I was able to feel even better results but most of all it was seeing that even though the weight number on scale wasn’t going down drastically I was still loosing fat and gaining muscle. I have even gotten to the point where I hit what I thought was my goal weight but now I am gaining weight again. What? Why? Well I almost started to freak out thinking all my hard work was waisted till I looked at the numbers and my Fat % has gone down but Muscle mass has gone up and we all know that muscle weighs more than fat! And clothes feel even looser!
So moral of the story is get off those plain Jane scales that just show eight and get something that can give you a better overall picture of your progress. You might be surprised!
