🎯 From Nervous to Confident: This Is Why I Love What I Do! 🎯

Yesterday’s private lesson was a great reminder of why I’m so passionate about helping others become more confident and proficient with their fi****ms! 🔥

I first met this student through a mutual friend a couple of years ago. He’s had his fi***rm for several months and was ready to take the next step in his training. His goals? Improve his grip, tighten his shot group, and prepare to obtain his Texas License to Carry (LTC).

We worked on several key skills, including:
🎯 Improving his grip and shot placement
🎯 Overcoming the tendency to anticipate recoil
🎯 Learning to aim more effectively as a cross-dominant eye shooter
🎯 Practicing dry-fire techniques he can continue working on at home
🎯 Adding time constraints to challenge his skills and build confidence under pressure

When we started, he was understandably nervous. One of my specialties is helping beginning shooters relax, calm their nerves, and develop the confidence they need to succeed. We take things one step at a time, building a solid foundation while challenging them to grow.

And the results? By the end of our session, his shots were landing in the 9-ring and X-ring! 🎯👏

That kind of progress is what makes teaching so rewarding. It’s not just about hitting the target; it’s about developing safe habits, building skills, and gaining the confidence to keep improving.

🎯 Private Training: Pushing skills to the next level!

Today’s private session was all about challenge, adaptability, and building confidence under different conditions.

My goal wasn’t simply to have my student shoot more rounds—it was to push him a little harder and challenge his skills in new ways.

We started with shooting from a kneeling position, then added movement to increase his heart rate and introduce another layer of difficulty.

Next, I brought out the barricade and challenged him to work from different angles and positions, requiring him to adjust his body position while maintaining control and accuracy.

Finally, we added situational targets to challenge him mentally and make him think through the scenario—not just focus on the fundamentals of shooting.

The best part? 👏 He has shown considerable improvement in his accuracy throughout our private sessions, and he continues to be open to learning and trying new techniques.

That willingness to learn is what makes private training so valuable. Every session can be tailored to the individual and designed to build on their current skill level.

Today’s private session focused on drawing from concealment, with an emphasis on building both speed and accuracy.

We incorporated:�

🔹 Movement and stress drills�
🔹 Shooting at increased distances�
🔹 Drawing and engaging from concealment

One of the most rewarding parts of private instruction is seeing the progress from one session to the next. This student has made significant improvements since our first session, which was exactly his goal. After being away from shooting for a while, he wanted to rebuild his skills, confidence, and consistency—and he’s doing an excellent job.

Next session, we’ll take things to the next level by working on different shooting positions and shooting from behind cover.

💙 Women’s Beginner Pistol Class — What a Great Day of Learning & Progress! 💙

Today’s Women’s Beginner Pistol class was all about building a solid foundation and, most importantly, building confidence.

We covered:
🔹 Pistol terminology
🔹 Fundamental safety principles
🔹 Grip & stance
🔹 Trigger control
🔹 Safe storage
🔹 A variety of holster options for women and concealed carry

One thing I really emphasize with women is that we need options when it comes to concealed carry. Our wardrobes, body shapes, and daily routines can be very different from men’s, so one carry method does not work for everyone. Finding a safe, comfortable, and practical option is an important part of responsible concealed carry.

After working through the fundamentals in the classroom, we headed to the range to put those skills into practice.

Both ladies started the range portion very nervous, especially since it had been a while since either of them had fired a pistol. But as the session progressed, their confidence grew—and by the end, both were doing a fantastic job on the range! 👏🎯

That’s why I love teaching beginner and private sessions. There’s nothing better than seeing someone go from “I’m nervous” to “I can do this.” 💪

Today’s private training session focused on taking his skills beyond the fundamentals. We worked on shooting from concealment, holster work, and incorporating movement while shooting.

It’s always rewarding to see a student build confidence and improve with each session. We focus on safe, deliberate practice while gradually introducing more advanced skills.

And we’re not done yet! 🔥 His next lesson will focus on concealed carry while moving and shooting.

🎯 Private Training: Building Confidence & Skills

Art and I had a student reach out to us for a private session focused on getting back to the basics and sharpening his skills. Today, we worked on:

🔹 Cleaning and maintaining his pistol and r***e
🔹 Proper fi***rm maintenance
🔹 Zeroing his red dot
🔹 Intermediate target shooting

He started the session feeling a little nervous, but with encouragement and instruction along the way, he quickly gained confidence and did very well! 💪🎯

We’re looking forward to continuing his training and helping him progress into more advanced techniques.
