As we are settling into a new school year I am getting my steps in at lunch and recess. This is a great time to introduce myself to our new and littlest Mustangs. Of course I get to love on my veteran students as well!

I'm excited to see all my students in my "Meet the Counselor" lesson next week. This is my opportunity to share how I can help and how the students can get in contact with me. Then we are off to the races with bi- weekly lessons!

Greetings Morningside Families,

My name is Jasminn Moore and I am the School Counselor at Morningside. This is my 20th year as a public-school educator and my 9th year as a counselor. I am grateful to say I have spent 18 years of my career at Morningside in various roles. I am an East Texas girl who loves reading, creating, the Dallas Cowboys, good food, and time with friends and family. My husband and I were also Morningside parents alongside some of you over the years. My daughters are now in 7th, 8th, and 12th grade. You are sure to see me at TCHS Friday Night Lights and Griffin events. Please come and say hello if you do! I am excited to welcome you to a new school year, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to support your child's growth and development as a school counselor.

Our 3rd- 5th students learned about what happens in their brain when they "flip their lid". We discussed stressors that they experience and tools that they currently utilize to relax. Students also had the opportunity to research some feelings words, identify specific emotion words that apply to them, and choose strategies to add to their toolbox.

In April, our K-2 Mustangs learned about Coping Skills. We are consistently working on building a toolbox with many strategies. Students ended the unit by trying 4 different skills and rating them to see which ones helped their brain and body feel better.
