Bronx Community College is proud to celebrate two outstanding leaders recognized on City & State’s 2026 Trailblazers in Higher Education list: Dr. Ana Mendieta, Development Officer in BCC’s Division of Advancement, Communications and External Relations, and Doris González, Chair of the BCC Foundation Board.

Dr. Mendieta’s work continues to expand access and opportunity at BCC by securing critical resources for student success. From helping lead a Giving Tuesday campaign that raised more than $265,000 to supporting signature initiatives like Run the Bronx, she plays an essential role in strengthening pathways to higher education. As Acting President of the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation, Doris González is advancing statewide efforts to make college more accessible and affordable. She oversees more than $1 billion in financial aid programs, including the Tuition Assistance Program, and is leading efforts to modernize systems that serve nearly 300,000 students each year.
