Saturday was a bittersweet day. So many Barnabites came to our school to say their final good byes. Every decade from the 50's through the 2000's was represented! When my freshman ID picture was taken (over 50 years ago!) we never could have envisioned the day that SBHS would close for good. It is truly the end of an era.
May God bless all the SBHS alumnae, teachers, staff and their families.

UNFORTUNATELY, THERE ARE NO T-SHIRTS, SWEATSHIRTS OR WINE GLASSES LEFT. THEY ALL SOLD OUT VERY QUICKLY.

FINAL WALK-THROUGH - SATURDAY 9/21 - 11AM - 2PM
A number of you have requested a final walk-through at the school. I am happy to let you know that on Saturday, September 21st, the school doors will be open from 11am until 2pm for anyone who would like to come to SBHS for a final visit. This is intended to give you the opportunity to connect with fellow Barnabites, take a nostalgic walk through the school and take photos. We still have some alumnae merchandise and memorabilia that will be made available that day on a first come - first served basis.

Unfortunately we will not be in a position to host the Alumnae Luncheon, but wanted to give alumnae the opportunity for a final good-bye to our beloved school.

If you have any questions please contact Julie (Mulry) Kaen ’76 at [email protected] or Fran Dziuma at [email protected]

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I post this message. A decision has been made that Saint Barnabas High School will cease operations and will not re-open in September 2024. Despite such a beautiful and successful celebration of our 100th Anniversary, our school is unable to overcome the financial strain it has been under for many years. Enrollment levels over the past several years have challenged our ability to meet the costs of providing a quality curriculum. In addition, the rising costs of operating the building we called home since 1959 has led to the very painful decision to cease operations.

We are working with affected families to ensure that our students will be welcomed in neighboring Catholic schools. The teacher’s union, in conjunction with the Archdiocese, will assist the faculty in finding employment with other Catholic schools. Please pray for our students, staff and faculty at this very difficult time.

I personally want to thank all our alumnae, friends and families who have loyally supported Saint Barnabas High School over many years. Our next alumnae mass & reunion was scheduled for October 19th. If there is enough interest, I would love to keep the tradition alive. Please contact me directly if you are interested in attending a reunion. The milestone years end in 4 and 9, but this year I would love to see as many alumnae as possible.

I would also like to make alumnae contact information available to a representative in each class, to keep our alumnae bonds strong. If you are interested in being a representative for your class year, please let me know. [email protected]. Over the next several weeks, we will be organizing all alumnae related materials and will find a home for our yearbooks and other precious memorabilia.

Words cannot adequately express my sorrow today. The school may be closing, but the Barnabite Sisterhood lives on forever.

On behalf of the Centennial Committee, I thank you for all of the your compliments on the Centennial Gala. As I said Thursday night, it truly was a labor of faith, hope & love. We are inspired by our Catholic faith, are hopeful for the future of Catholic education for young women - especially at SBHS, and have a strong love for our Barnabite sisterhood.
I am happy to let you know that over 450 photographs have been uploaded to the SBHS website under the Centennial tab. This link will bring you to the Centennial page and then click on Photo Album. https://tinyurl.com/Gala-photos

Thank you to over 300 guests who celebrated Saint Barnabas High School's 100th anniversary this past Thursday night. It was an amazing evening. The Gala was a successful fundraiser, but even more importantly, it was a heartfelt rekindling of invaluable friendships. You could feel the love in the room. The Centennial Committee was gratified to see everyone having such a great time! As soon as the official photographs are available, they will be posted to the school website.
