BAFA's mission is to encourage excellence in creative expression through performing arts, literature We tap into our inner spirituality through Odissi.

We specialize in the dance forms of Kathak, Folk, and Bangladeshi modern contemporary. Our students are also trained in the foundations of both Bharatanatyam and Odissi. Kathak is a classical genre of dance tracing its roots to Northern India. It is know for its intricate choreography, sharp and graceful movements, and compelling footwork. Join BAFA for a community-led Know Your Rights & Anti-Bias Seminar designed to empower Bronx residents with information, resources, and protections available under NYC Human Rights Law.

This session will directly address issues impacting immigrant and historically underserved communities, including Bangladeshi, Black, and Latinx residents, while providing practical information on navigating discrimination, bias, and access to support services.

We'll kick off the festivities with the Boishakhi Parade at 4 PM, starting from BAFA Studio (2172 Starling Ave), as we take to the streets singing and dancing to Bengali music! To join the parade, please arrive in front of the BAFA studio by 3:30 pm for lineup.

After the parade, stop by the Indoor Mela at PS 106 or explore the local vendors and shops along Starling Ave before settling in for the evening program.

Doors open at 6:00 PM at the PS 106 auditorium, with performances beginning promptly at 6:30 PM.

The evening will feature soulful guitar performances, Chandalika—a powerful dance drama centered on resistance, dignity, and self-worth—and a vibrant closing performance by BAFA vocalists.
