Shaving cream on a balloon is great for student barbers practicing razor shaves but hair fibers on a balloon is great for practicing sharp lines and designs with the trimmer.💈

Ayeee the balloon shaving exercise can be a piece of cake for many students. When that happens I push it up a notch with razor line work on mannequins. You can’t use the same pressure you’d use on a live client or the plastic will scrape right off.

This forces students to control blade angle, pressure and hand stability with precision. More importantly, it builds true razor dexterity, fine motor control and discipline that are essential when working on sensitive skin. That’s the difference between simply shaving and practicing intentional craftsmanship.💯
