ADAPT Lab is a team of doctoral students led by Dr. McGinn researching the vulnerability, prevention, and treatment of depression and anxiety disorders.

The ADAPT Lab is part of the Ferkauf Graduate School at Yeshiva University. We study vulnerability and prevention of anxiety and mood disorders. We examine the effects of environmental and cognitive styles on anxiety and depression. In this lab, we have developed an intervention to prevent the development of depression which has been tested in a NIH funded research study.

Congratulations to our lab students on their clinical training placements, including our newest members! They all have worked hard to match at their top choices, which span a variety of excellent settings.

Amalia Tobias '26 will be an extern at Together CBT and will be working with Dr. Amelia Aldao. Joy Shen '26 will be an extern at New York-Presbyterian's inpatient substance abuse unit with Dr. Kanellopoulos. Rachel Fried '26 will be an extern at Academics West under Dr. Jamie Marrus. Raya Kumar '26 will be an extern at Montefiore's Supporting Healthy Relationships and HERO Dads Program.

Songmin Na '25 will be an extern at Kind Mind working with Dr. Monica Johnson.

Olivia Sahlman '24 will be continuing her training at Cognitive and Behavioral Consultants with Drs. Chad Brice and Elizabeth Byrnes, an alumna of the Clinical Psy.D program and the ADAPT lab.

Meredith Seewald '23 matched at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Zucker Hillside Hospital in the Adult Psychology track with Dr. Elihu Turkel for her internship year. Keara Mageras '23 also matched at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Zucker Hillside Hospital in the Adult Psychology track for her internship year.

Lauren Yang '22 will be conducting her Postdoctoral Fellowship at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City, CA with Drs. Aaron Trinh and Weiling Liu. Taylor Etessami '22 successfully received a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology, specializing in OCD and Bipolar Disorder at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Zucker Hillside Hospital with Dr. Anthony Pinto.

What a year it has been! While balancing the demands of online learning and clinical training amid the challenges of an ongoing pandemic, our lab members have been placed at incredible externship and internship sites. Congratulations on all of their hard work!

Lauren Yang '22 was matched with an internship at San Jose State University Counseling Center and Psychological Services. Taylor Zar '22 was matched with an internship at Manhattan Psychiatric Center.

Keara Mageras '23 will be at Northwell-Zucker Hillside Hospital in the Behavioral Health College Partnership track for her third externship. Meredith Seewald '23 will be at Northwell-LIJ Medical Center in the Geropsychology track for her third externship.

Olivia Sahlman '24 will be at New York-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center in the Inpatient Adult Addiction Recovery Service track for her second externship.

Caroline Ball '25 will be at SCO Family Services for her first externship. Songmin Na '25 will be at South Beach Psychiatric Center for her first externship. Liorah Rubinstein '25 will be at Pace College Counseling Center for her first externship.

Congratulations to Dr. Lata K McGinn for her Outstanding Service to ABCT Award! We were so excited to see Dr. McGinn honored tonight (virtually) at the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies 54th Annual Convention. We are thrilled to have her as a mentor, and we look forward to celebrating together in person hopefully in the near future!

Lianna presented "The Impact of a Guided Mood Induction in Inducing and Modifying Symptoms of Sadness Among Adolescents."

Sara presented "Guilt, Shame, and Inflated Responsibility in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder."

Alison presented "Mediators and Moderators of Social Anxiety and Co-morbid Depression: Loneliness, Belongingness, and Perceived Social Support."

Alison will be at Rutgers, and Lianna will be at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. Also our other lab members were matched to externships! Taylor Zar will be at Northwell/LIJ in the Behavioral Health College Partnership track. Lauren Yang will be at Kingsboro Psychiatric Center. Meredith Seewald and Keara Mageras will be at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. And our newest members Mary Mulroy will be at Iona College Counseling Center, and Olivia Sahlman will be at Brooklyn College Personal Counseling. Congratulations to all!
