Accepted Students Day is almost here - join us on Saturday, April 18, to experience campus, connect with future classmates, and see what it means to be part of our community. A Maritime education is more than an education - it's a job! ⚓

School counselors from Western and Central New York visited Maritime College as part of the SUNY - The State University of New York Fly-In Counselor Tour, gaining firsthand insight to best support their students through the college search process.

During their visit, counselors toured the EMPIRE STATE and met with President RADM Okon, learning about Maritime’s unique academic programs, hands-on training, and career pathways that prepare students for successful futures in the maritime industry and beyond. We’re excited for them to bring what they learned back to their students as they plan for college!

Meet Cadet 2/C Julian David.
Julian is committed to personal development and self-discipline in all areas, mentally, emotionally, and academically. Transitioning from a home-school environment to a hands-on curriculum, Julian understood that his college experience needed to include a curriculum that challenged him like never before.

"When I arrived at Maritime, I thought I had a grasp on engineering. But I quickly discovered that my learning curve was just beginning. Diving into new skills, especially in electronics, opened up an entirely new world for me. During Summer Sea Term, I learned how to solder, which really boosted my confidence and helped me see what this journey is truly about. Everything I absorbed in the classroom came to life, showing me how much more there is to explore in this field."

We were proud to partner with the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling for the Spring NYSACAC College Fair, welcoming hundreds of students from across the state to the Peninsula of Opportunity.

Events like this are critical to strengthening the maritime pipeline. By creating accessible pathways to higher education, we help ensure the next generation of mariners, engineers, logisticians, and industry leaders can see a place for themselves in this essential global workforce.

Meet Cadet 1/C Ethan Narofsky.
Ethan has loved the water since childhood and found marine life interesting. Growing up, he knew he wanted to be an engineer, and Marine Engineering was the perfect combination of both worlds.

"I opened up new doors throughout my Maritime journey. I was a Welding Rate during my First Class cruise, where I was given a project for the forward-most mast on the TSESVII that pushed my skills and tested my abilities. I worked really hard, and it was a great feeling to see that something I created not only performed well, but that others saw that potential in me."

Jack Cody, a sophomore at North Quincy High School in Quincy, is already charting an impressive course. An avid sailor, he competes on his school's sailing team, plays trumpet in the marching band, and is a key player on the soccer team.

On the water, Jack races 420s and participates in the winter frostbite series with his Laser across Rhode Island. With aspirations to study Marine Engineering and build a career in the marine industry, we’re excited to see where his journey takes him.

Jack, we look forward to seeing you in Fall 2028!
