Hector Tavarez, a dedicated member of DeWitt Clinton High School, will be retiring from the DOE at the end of the year. Coach Hector has devoted the past 38 years of his life coaching youth sports. His impact has been immeasurable, particularly in the lives of at-risk kids whom he has guided throughout his career.

Coach Hector’s unwavering commitment has transformed the Clinton Basketball Program into an NYC power. His absence will undoubtedly leave a significant void.

Despite his impending retirement, Coach Hector remains determined to fulfill unfinished goals. His immediate focus is on guiding this year’s team to its first City Championship since 1977.

We are immensely grateful for Coach Hector’s many years of service and the invaluable contributions he has made to the program. Our heartfelt thanks go out to him and the entire Tavarez family.

On a wonderful evening where both the senior boys and girls basketball players were honored at halftime, Clinton’s strong 4th quarter catapulted them to a 78-50 win over Columbus! 💪🏽💪🏽

The regular season has concluded with Clinton standing with a 19-4 overall record with a 14-0 league mark. The unblemished league record is Clinton’s 4th straight season without a loss! 👏🏽👏🏽

On this night, Nowah Hargrow went out in style knocking in a career high 43 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Anthony Durant added 13 points while Kion Danso had a double double of 11 points paired with 10 assists.

Clinton now eagerly awaits the seeding for the Bronx Boro tournament to be played in its entirety next week. The Boros is the first of two separate post season tournaments Clinton will participate in.

After winter break, Clinton will play in the PSAL 3A tournament looking to capture its first City title since 1977.

Clinton shot uncharacteristically poor from the outside but were picked up by the play of Kion Danso who led the Governors to a 68-53 victory over rival Evander Childs.

Danso finished with a game high 28 points to go along with 5 assists.

Matthew Kofi added 10 points and 12 rebounds while Anthony Durant contributed 9 points and 10 assists on the night.

The Governors move to 18-3 on the season with a 13-0 league mark.

Next up, Clinton travel down the Grand Concourse to take on CHSAA powerhouse Cardinal Hayes this Sunday at 3pm.
