Faculty Spotlight: Meet Amy Ollerton, MSN, RN
With 34 years of nursing experience, Amy Ollerton brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and real-world experience to the EAC Nursing Program. As our Lab Coordinator and Nursing Professor, she helps guide students through labs and simulations, making sure they’re ready for whatever comes next.
Amy has worked in just about every area of nursing, from Labor & Delivery and Pediatrics to ICU, the Emergency Department, and even as a flight nurse. When asked what inspired her to become a nurse, her answer was simple: “I think it’s just in my DNA.”
One of her favorite parts of teaching is watching students have those unforgettable “light bulb” moments when a difficult skill or concept finally clicks.
Her advice for future nurses:
“It won’t be easy to obtain, but it most definitely is worth it! And don’t worry if your first job isn’t your dream job. Nursing offers so many opportunities, and your career can take you places you never imagined.”
Outside the classroom, you’ll find Amy reading, crocheting, sewing, cooking for family and friends, or relaxing at her cabin on Mt. Graham. Fun fact: She has 11 siblings and 16 grandchildren! And if she weren’t a nurse? She’d be “Well rested!”
