This year's winner is Brayln Harris, a graduating senior from Texas City High School. He has exemplified leadership in multiple school organizations and service clubs throughout his high school years. Congratulations to the 2026 Excellence in Teaching (EIT) award winners! πŸŽ‰

The Excellence in Teaching (EIT) recognition program was created in 2001 by Dan R. Dixon in honor of his brother, Dr. Dennis O. Dixon, both proud 1962 graduates of Texas City High School. Dan established the program to recognize and reward the outstanding commitment, dedication, and impact of Texas City Independent School District teachers through annual cash awards.

The first award was presented in 2002 during the 40th anniversary celebration of the Dixon brothers’ graduation from Texas City High School. In 2006, the program expanded to include an Elementary Teacher of the Year award, and in 2007, the New Teacher of the Year award was added through the support of David Moss and Ameriprise.

Congratulations to this year’s honorees:
⭐ Shawna Forren β€” New Teacher of the Year
⭐ Kaylei Cole β€” Elementary Teacher of the Year
⭐ Nate Swerdlin β€” Secondary Teacher of the Year

These educators exemplify excellence, dedication, and a passion for student success. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and the positive impact they continue to make in the lives of students and throughout the community! πŸ‘

Ignite Grant Awards were created to allow TCISD staff to request grant funding up to $15,000 to support innovative ideas and projects for our students. These grants were presented to the Foundation for the Future Board of Directors for consideration and selection.

On May 8th, the Foundation for the Future proudly awarded Ignite Grants totaling nearly $120,000 across TCISD!

Our first Ignite Grant was written by Sara Evans for K–5 science lab kits totaling $67,277.98. Every elementary student across TCISD will benefit from new hands-on science lab experiences.

Thank you to everyone who supports the Foundation for the Future throughout the year and helps make opportunities like this possible. None of this could happen without your generosity and support!
