The "Ozone Theatre" originated in Udorn, Thailand in July, 1972 at the hands of Sp4 Bill Hart. I soon joined him in selecting properly subversive themes the AFTN Network would certainly have censored if AFRTS itself didn't. Steve "Little Stevie" King joined us a short time later and the rest is history. When we rec'd an order for a Red II alert, we'd immediately follow with the long version of "Stairway to Heaven.' Strictly AFRTS not approved! The troops loved it and listened on those little six transistor issue radios while under fire. "It was a sh*tty little war, but the only one they gave us."

"We Were Soldiers, Too" tells the story of the unknown war that took place all over Southeast Asia. Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia hat hundreds of thousands of U.S. and Allied soldiers who fought and died by the thousands to win this war. Fact is, despite the history books, we won and won big. By January of 1973 the North Vietnamese had given up due to both our ground and air wars. As the troops streamed into Thailand they came in jubilant. Charlie didn't own the night, he didn't own the day, Charlie was about 95% dead and U.S. soldiers walked South Vietnam freely and safely day and night. So, why the history? Simple. We won the war but the administration threw the peace. All was well until the passing of the War Powers Act rendered the President powerless to respond to aggression. And Congress, as usual, was far more interested in getting themselves re-elected than doing the right thing to honor the 53000 men and women who gave their lives for their country and then returned home to abuse, neglect, and bigotry.
This the the story of the Udorn 9 who died at their stations at Udorn RTAFB Thailand, about 45 miles south of Vientiane, Laos. The little issue radios GIs carried in the field in numbers greater than the New Testament resided in the shirt pocket with that bible and was more important when under fire. Many soldiers died in firefights with those radios keeping them focused and sane. Many of us were getting calls for requests when the message would suddenly end when a bullet or other lethal weapon killed or disabled the soldier.
This is the story of those men beyond "Good Morning, Vietnam." Please donate to those of us trying to set the record straight. Aside from this film we plan to make at least a full years worth of TV programs to follow up and use the 323GB of film we have of war, fun, love, laughs, and all the things that make up a war.
