Three generations of Sycamores and a friendship that's lasted more than 50 years! 💙🤝

In 1974, two young couples shared an apartment near Indiana State University. Their daughters grew up as friends and earned Indiana State degrees. Now, their granddaughters are continuing the tradition as Sycamores and roommates!

First-year students Jenna Farris and Aubrey Miller are both Presidential Scholars from Brazil, Indiana. Jenna is studying elementary and special education, while Aubrey is majoring in communication sciences and disorders.

“I am making my own memories in the same places my family did, which is crazy to think about!” Jenna says.

“It makes me feel proud to know I'm walking through some of the same hallways and taking some of the same classes that my parents or grandparents took,” Aubrey adds.

Indiana State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessica Thome as University Controller, effective October 19!

Thome brings more than 12 years of experience in public finance and accounting, along with strong connections to the Terre Haute community. She currently serves as controller for the City of Terre Haute, where she oversees accounting, treasury, procurement, financial reporting, budgeting and audit functions.

In her new role, Thome will lead Indiana State’s accounting and financial reporting operations while supporting sound financial practices that advance the University’s academic mission and strategic priorities.

This Thursday, stop by the Student Recruitment Fair to learn about 13 faculty-led programs offered through the Center for Education Abroad. Meet faculty leaders, explore destinations, ask questions and find a program that could be a good fit for you.

Plus, three students will have the chance to win a $500 grant through a lottery drawing! To be eligible, students must attend the fair and participate in a 2027 faculty-led program.

Presented by Indiana State University’s Bayh College of Education, this event will feature hands-on cultural activities, traditional games, Korean language activities, hanbok try-ons and more, followed by an afternoon of Korean music, dance and traditional performances.
