🌋✨ October’s Theme: Solving Problems with Others! 🤝💡

We kicked off October by diving into Conflict Resolution and learning how to work through disagreements in positive and respectful ways. 💬❤️

🌋 My Mouth Is a Volcano! Our students explored what happens when our emotions start to “erupt” and discovered strategies to help calm the volcano before it blows! To make learning hands-on and fun, they created their very own mini volcanoes while practicing ways to pause, communicate, and solve conflicts appropriately. 🌋🧠

🐛 What Bugs Me The children also identified things that may “bug” them during disagreements or frustrating situations. They practiced listening, sharing their feelings, offering advice, and thinking of positive solutions with their peers. 🗣️👂💭

We’re so proud of our students for learning that problems don’t have to divide us—they can be opportunities to listen, learn, communicate, and grow together! 💕🌟

🍎✨ Healthy Snacks Can Be FUN! ✨🍎

Making healthier snack choices can be challenging—especially with so many tempting prepackaged options like cookies, candy, and chips. But with a little planning, healthy snacking can be easy, affordable, AND delicious! 🙌

One great tip? Prep ahead! Spend a few minutes each week getting fruits, veggies, and healthier crackers or chips ready to grab and go. Even better—get the kids involved! Let them help choose their favorite fruits and veggies and prepare their own snack options. 🥕🍓🥒

At Camp Navigate, Miss Katelyn showed our campers just how exciting healthy snacks can be with a delicious twist on a classic favorite: 🍏🍎 Caramel Apple Nachos!

The kids had a blast creating their own booklet and apple masterpieces and choosing their favorite toppings—including:

🌈 Sprinkles
✨ Cinnamon

What do you have to be grateful for as you look back on September? 🤔

Is it your health? Loved ones? Support from friends?

September brings awareness to children tackling cancer.

Our kids have shown up to support with reminders of strength in bracelet form. Look down and smile knowing you are loved, you rock, and God loves you.

Let your mind be your super hero. Use its powers to transform your day, your month, your life ✨

The designer jewelry pictured will be gifted to kiddos stronger than Superman and Wonder Woman put together.

We encourage our campers to step outside their comfort zones, get curious, and give new things a chance! 💪✨

🏀 Try a new sport
🎤 Sing a song
💃 Dance like nobody’s watching
🏊‍♀️ Take a swim lesson
🎲 Learn a new board game
🥝 Taste a kiwi
🥕 Try carrots
🍽️ Give a new meat dish a shot

And here’s the best part: You don’t have to love everything you try! ❤️

Maybe kiwi isn’t your thing. As you get older, it may become your favorite fruit! Maybe you discover that swimming isn’t your favorite activity. That’s OK! The victory is in being brave enough to try. 🙌

The same goes for new activities. You might not be great at something the first time—and that’s completely normal! With practice, patience, and a little perseverance, you can improve, discover new talents, and maybe even find something you absolutely LOVE! 🌈

From working together on activities and cheering each other on to sharing laughs and helping a friend who needs a little encouragement, camp creates countless opportunities for connection. 🌟

🎯 The Unfair Game!

Life isn’t always fair—and learning how to handle disappointment is an important life skill!

During ASC, our students challenged the children with “unfair” games where the teams had different rules, equipment, distances, and challenges. The reactions were priceless! 😄

🏀 First Baptist: The children played a bean-bag toss and basketball game, but the teams had different numbers of bean bags and their targets were moved closer or farther away. They quickly discovered that the game wasn’t quite as fair as it seemed! 😄

🏃 St. Patrick’s: The children competed in a relay race, but each team had a different challenge. Some dribbled a basketball, some hopped with two balls, some ran, and others completed jumping jacks before racing back. The children definitely had opinions about what was—and wasn’t—fair! 😂

After the games, we talked about fairness, empathy, teamwork, and encouraging others. The children discovered that fairness isn’t always about everyone having the exact same thing—it’s about making sure everyone has a chance to participate, feel included, and succeed.

❤️ And the best part? By the end, the children were cheering each other on, helping teammates, and celebrating when everyone finished!

A fun game, BIG feelings, and some even BIGGER life lessons! 🙌
