Memorial Stadium, then & now. ๐Ÿ“ธ

Nearly a century separates these two views of one of Terre Hauteโ€™s most recognizable landmarks.

Constructed in 1923โ€“1924 by the City of Terre Haute as a tribute to Vigo County soldiers who served in World War I, Memorial Stadium originally opened as a premier minor league baseball stadium. Over the years, it also hosted football, boxing, circuses, and other community events before being acquired by Indiana State University in 1967.

This photo, featured in the 1927 ๐˜š๐˜บ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ yearbook, offers a glimpse of Memorial Stadium in its early years. Be a part of its history this Homecoming weekend and join us at Memorial Stadium to cheer on the Sycamores!

Want to uncover more Sycamore history? Vintage ๐˜š๐˜บ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ yearbooks are available through our yearbook auction! Visit sycamoreyearbookauction.perfectsilentauction.com to place your bid.

Then, cheer on the Sycamores as they take on the Youngstown State Penguins! ๐Ÿˆ

๐Ÿ“ Memorial Stadium
Tailgate runs immediately following the Homecoming Parade until kickoff at 1:00 p.m.

Picture thisโ€ฆ 1983!

Indiana State University Homecoming invited Sycamores to take a step back in time with a prehistoric โ€œPicture Thisโ€ฆโ€ theme.

Four decades later, weโ€™re still celebrating the traditions, memories, and moments that make Homecoming special. And this year, weโ€™re doing it In Our Sycamore Era.๐ŸŒณ

What do you remember about Homecoming 1983?
