Somewhere in Terre Haute there's already a kid zipping up a backpack right now who's already planning alternate hallway routes to avoid a bully.

Their parents often don't know. They won't mention it. Kids never do.

We've had that kid on our mats a hundred times. Won't look you in the eye. Stands at the back of the line. Says "I'm good" when you ask them what's wrong.

Bullies don't go after the toughest kid in school. They go after the one who doesn't believe in theirself yet. And you can't talk a kid out of that. You can't lecture it out of them.

That's what our gym is for.

Most of these kids will never throw a punch in their life, and that's exactly the point. After they train in our gym, they walk different. They are the one who tells the new kid to come sit down. They are the ones who stand up to the bullies.

We can't do that for them in a week...But we can start Monday.

Respect Has No Title

One thing I’ve always believed: you treat the janitor with the same respect you treat the CEO.

A person’s job title, bank account, clothes, or status should never determine the amount of respect you give them.

I’ve met people with very little who had the biggest hearts, and I’ve met people with everything who forgot how to treat others.

At the end of the day, we’re all human. Everyone is fighting battles you may know nothing about. Everyone deserves to be looked in the eye, spoken to with kindness, and treated with dignity.

I don’t care if you clean the building or own the building. I don’t care if you’re a white belt walking through the door for the first time or a black belt with decades on the mats.

Character is how you treat people who can do absolutely nothing for you.

Be humble. Be kind. Give respect freely.

Because titles come and go—but the way you make people feel is something they’ll remember forever.

🎒 SCHOOL IS BACK, LET’S GET THOSE KIDS MOVING! 🥋

Backpacks are packed, school is back in session, and it’s time to get the kids into a routine!

At JG-BJJ, our kids’ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are about WAY more than learning how to fight.

Monday • Wednesday • Friday at 5 PM
