John P. Blair received his bachelor’s degree in Voice and Theatre from Indiana State University. He was accepted into the prestigious Acting Internship Program at INDIANA REPERTORY THEATRE. While at IRT, John studied under the direction of Tom Hass, head of the acting/directing Department of Yale’s School of Drama. Hass has coached Sigourney Weaver, Michael Gross, Meryl Streep and Henry Wrinkler to name a few. Blair has worked with Tony Award Winner Trazana Beverley (“For Colored Girls who have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf), the late Ann Crumb (Aspects of Love), Donna Kane (Meet Me in St. Louis), and Tony Award Winner Ben Davis (Baz Luhrmann's La Boheme). Davis was a voice student of Blair in the 90’s and personal friend. Blair has coach students which credits include Broadway, Off Broadway, Regional theatres, as well as leads in Community theatre and principal roles in Jr and High school productions. His favorite is coaching young performers for BFA musical theatre auditions. His students have attended:
College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, Boston Conservatory at Berklee,
Penn State University, Ball State University, Millikin University, AMDA, Roosevelt University,
Oklahoma City University, Indiana University and many others.
John P Blair resides in Terre Haute, Indiana with his beloved cat, Cupo (a.k.a Miss Kitty of Gunsmoke). In Terre Haute, Mr. Blair works as organist/pianist for Memorial United Methodist Church and owner/instructor of BLAIR FLAIR MUSIC online.
