Congratulations to our final senior winter Noel Moore Award winner, Audrey Young! Audrey was selected for the Noel Moore Award for her conscientious and exceptional approach to her courses and other professional and department activities. She shows a deep and thoughtful engagement with her work, including particularly the important broader-impact and other ethical considerations required of the chemical engineering discipline. In so doing, she sets a great example for her peers and raises the quality of education for everyone in the department. Congratulations, Audrey, on this well-deserved accomplishment!

The Noel Moore Award is given quarterly to a sophomore, junior, and senior student from each class who, in the opinion of the faculty and staff of the Chemical Engineering Department, has exhibited a commendable attitude towards learning and contributed positively to the Rose-Hulman community. The award is named after Dr. Noel Moore, who was a chemical engineering faculty member for 30 years, including 10 years as Department Head. Dr. Moore retired in 1998 and was named an emeritus faculty member. He passed away in the fall of 2018.

Congratulations to another of our senior winter Noel Moore Award winners, Josiah Schlabach! Josiah is recognized for his positive attitude in class and his contributions to course discussions and problem-solving sessions. Josiah is a valued team member in laboratory and design courses, and he has been proactive in asking questions and learning new skills for his Advanced Reaction Engineering course. Outside of class, Josiah has contributed to campus as a member of the Rose-Hulman Student Government Association. Congratulations, Josiah!

Congratulations to one of our senior winter Noel Moore Award winners, Kaitlyn Chandler! Kaitlyn is being recognized for her intellectual curiosity and for her excellent classroom and campus citizenship. In the classroom, Kaitlyn shows dedication to her coursework by working proactively and seeking advice when needed. She shows clear drive to apply what she learns in class to the real world. She has engaged in independent research related to a variety of topics including renewable fuels and food engineering. Kaitlyn has also been active in many student organizations throughout her time at Rose-Hulman, including the Student Government Association. Congratulations, Kaitlyn!

Congratulations to our junior winter Noel Moore Award winner, Kayla Schnippel! Kayla is recognized for her outstanding academic performance and involvement in extracurriculars. She is dedicated in the classroom and quite eager to learn and understand fundamentals of engineering problems. Kayla is acknowledged for bringing up the level of the learning in the classroom. Congratulations to our sophomore winter Noel Moore Award winner, Griffin Lawrence! Griffin is recognized for his positive attitude, outstanding academic performance, and extracurricular involvement. He has a big personality that brings fun, humor, and energy to the classroom. Not only does he excel in his classes, Griffin is also involved around campus as a sophomore resident advisor and Admissions Office ambassador, and he has served in leadership roles for Greek life and SGA. Congratulations, Griffin!
