Did you know that PESB just approved Educational Interpreters in Sign Language as certificated roles. This certificate is within the same overall category ESA and teacher certificates. If you are a sign language interpreter already working in a Washington state public school or are someone interested in this role, it is critical that you learn the certification requirements and policy changes. WEA has you covered. Attend the WEA Educational Interpreter Certification 101 course offered several times between now and the end of this school year. Our third annual Unions Rock event is one month away! This year we have PD specifically for our classified folks as well as classes for our certs on AI in the classroom. CCDEI clock hours as well as STEM clock hours will be provided. We're going to sip and paint, have a bonfire, learn about the connection between civics and unions as well as hold our incredibly fun and energizing Crazy Auction! Space is limited so if your local president hasn't reached out yet and you are interested in attending, please reach out to your rep or Sandy in our office to RSVP ASAP!

We had our first BUNCO game night! Thank you to our members who came out for a fun night. We were a small but mighty group (missing a few due to illness) and are already looking forward to the next one! Hope you can join us next time!

Huge thank you to all of our ESP cluster leaders who came out for the first meeting of the year. We had great conversations about membership, one on ones, local support and district shenanigans and we are ready to show our union solidarity! Hang onto your hats, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

Also, shout out to our very own Sally Laurvick, still working diligently to support our members even though she’s retired. We appreciate you!
