Oconee GLRS Collaborative Community Meeting Summary
September 11, 2026
The Oconee GLRS Collaborative Community Meeting on September 11 provided an opportunity for district special education directors to collaborate, share updates, and discuss current priorities related to supporting students with disabilities. The meeting focused on strengthening communication across districts and identifying effective practices and areas for continued growth.
Key topics included:
• GVRA Updates: Participants received updates regarding GVRA services and discussed ways districts can effectively connect students with available transition and employment-related supports.
• GNETS Updates: The group reviewed GNETS updates and discussed services, supports, and ways to ensure students receive appropriate programming based on their individual needs.
• IEP Goals and Objectives: Participants discussed and completed activities on monitoring the development of meaningful, measurable IEP goals and objectives and the importance of aligning goals with student needs, data, and specially designed instruction.
• District-Level Work – Washington County Schools: Washington County Schools shared highlights of current district-level initiatives and work, providing an opportunity for other districts to learn from practices being implemented locally.
• State and Regional Priorities: The group reviewed current state and regional priorities and discussed how district efforts can align with these areas of focus.
• District “Grows and Glows”: Each district shared areas of success (glows) as well as areas for continued improvement or support (grows). This provided an opportunity for districts to celebrate progress, identify common challenges, and collaborate on solutions.
