This video is from a private session working on scoring from the wing. In this drill, we are combining multiple skills. The first is using footwork to step across our "defender" and break out to the wing. Then we are working on our footwork to be on balance when catching the ball and step into the shot. We finished with some hip swivels (demonstrated in a previous video) to square up and attack with the dribble. This awesome young lady does a great job of making little adjustments and improving with each repetition.
Hey everyone, as expected our first tournament on April 18-19th has been canceled and in accordance with state guidelines, we won't have any practices in April. We have several tournaments in May and June that organizers are still planning on holding, and hopefully things will have calmed down by then and we can't start back up. Hoping for the best! I will post any updates when I can. Take care and God bless.
Demonstrating a "hip-swivel", which lets us get square to the basket for a drive or shot. Also can freeze your defender, similar to a hesitation dribble
Another ball-handling sequence you can work on in the driveway at home, combining a double-crossover with a behind the back dribble, while shifting. If you have any video of yourselves doing this or anything else we have shown in previous videos, please share. Love to see y'all working on your game!
Hey everyone, this video is from a private session focused on shooting. We always start with form shooting close to the basket and gradually work our way out. We want to think about our feet location to prevent turning as we shoot, bending our shoulders and hips together so we have a fluid motion, and finishing with a high snap. The audio isn't the best so if you have any questions about the instruction, please let me know. And if you like the video, please share.
God Bless!
Hey guys, here is another instructional video on using dribbles to shift our feet and attack the defense. My awesome assistant demonstrates driving with correct footwork to get a quick first step, and then using the same footwork to step into our shot.
Hey everyone, here are some clips from a private workout. In this session, we are working on what we call a "spin-off" move. As the ball-handler closes space to the defender, they will shift their feet so that their pivot foot is outside the foot of the defender. We can then forward pivot, or "spin off", the defender, and can use our inside hand to sweep and gain an advantage. We also show how if the defender jumps into our path, we can reverse spin the opposite direction.
Hope you guys enjoy the video. Hit the share button and lets keep grinding! Have a great day!
