Parent Tip of the Week
đź’™Encourage Big Feelings With Calm Support đź’™

Back-to-school transitions can bring big feelings. Children may feel excited, nervous, unsure, tired, or overwhelmed as they adjust to new routines.

When children have big emotions, calm support from trusted adults helps them feel safe. Try getting down on their level, using a gentle voice, naming the feeling, and offering reassurance.

Simple phrases like “I know this feels hard,” “You are safe,” or “I’m here to help you” can give children comfort while they learn how to manage their emotions.

Big feelings are part of growing. With patience, connection, and support, children build confidence and emotional skills over time. ❤️

Behind the Scenes Blog: What Children Learn During Center Time đź’™

Center time may look like play, but it is full of learning!

During center time, children make choices, explore materials, practice independence, and build important social skills. Whether they are building with blocks, creating art, pretending in dramatic play, reading books, solving puzzles, or working with friends, children are developing skills that support growth in every area.

Center time helps children practice problem-solving, communication, creativity, cooperation, fine motor skills, and confidence. It also gives teachers the opportunity to observe each child’s interests, support individual needs, and guide learning through meaningful play.

At BCDC, we believe play is purposeful, and center time is one of the many ways children grow, learn, and thrive.

Back-to-School Tip of the Week 🍎 Create a Simple Goodbye Routine

Drop-off transitions can feel emotional for children and parents, especially during the back-to-school season.

Creating a short, consistent goodbye routine can help children feel more secure. Try a hug, a special phrase, and a confident goodbye. Keeping the routine simple and predictable helps your child know what to expect and builds trust during transitions.

A calm and loving goodbye can help your child start the day feeling safe, supported, and ready to learn. đź’™

Parent Tip of the Week 📚 Read Together Every Day

Reading together for just a few minutes each day can make a big difference.

Books help build language, attention, imagination, vocabulary, and a lifelong love of reading. Reading also creates a special time for connection between children and the adults who love them.

Whether it is a bedtime story, a favorite picture book, or a few quiet minutes during the day, every page matters.
