Congratulations!!!

We are pleased to congratulate Barrett alumna Boi Ngoc Thai for being selected to join the highly competitive Yenching Academy of Peking University, earning a fully funded scholarship to pursue a Master of China Studies! She’ll focus on how digital platforms shape public discourse, culture, and gender in society.

The Yenching Academy accepts just 2.7 percent of applicants. Boi, a Cronkite grad with a minor in business, is just the second ASU student in two years to earn this honor.

Congratulations! Exceptional work.

Exceptional ASU and Barrett graduate Nathaniel Ross has been selected for the 2025 Luce Scholars Program, one of the most prestigious fellowships for young leaders.

Funded by the Henry Luce Foundation, the program provides immersive professional experiences in Asia for early-career leaders who have had limited prior exposure to the region.

Nathaniel was also offered the Knight-Hennessy Scholarship at Stanford, one of the most selective and well-funded graduate fellowships in the world. He has chosen to pursue a law degree at Yale, a path that aligns closely with the Luce Program’s mission to cultivate globally engaged leaders across fields.

This achievement builds on an already historic record. In 2022, Nathaniel became ASU’s first American Rhodes Scholar in over 20 years, joining an elite group of only 16 scholars nationwide.

Nathaniel’s achievements reflect ASU and Barrett’s commitment to global engagement and developing the next generation of leaders. Please join us in congratulating him on this incredible honor!
