Shaping thriving ocean futures.

Zooplanktons are the most abundant animals on earth. Even though they’re incredibly small, they play a big role in ensuring our planet’s future.

The ASU School of Ocean Futures is actively investigating these tiny creatures to comprehend their significance in oceans and their impact on climate change.

Recently, second-year PhD student Yuuki Niimi and assistant professor Amy Mass conducted research aboard a 170-foot-long research vessel in the Sargasso Sea. Their mission was to capture and observe zooplankton.
